Description Another obscure 80s cartoon character. It's an old sketch I did of Bert Raccoon from the cartoon "The Raccoons." I don't remember that show to well, but sence I haven't uploaded anything in awhile, I figured why not.
Some 80s cartoon enthusiasts might like it.

As with the Riff Raff pic. If I color this someday, I'll put this in scraps.
Don't worry, I promise I'll post more major pics soon to.

Sweet picture. Question: Is it okay with you if I borrow this image for a special request, please? With you permission and promise to give you credit after the picture is done, okay?

I wish to use it for a musical picture for someone, please? As for the coloring part I can take care of that, if that's okay with you?

Yeah, they got some pretty cool characters on that show. Not to mention the show's soundtrack was pretty cool.

I haven't seen it on TV sense I was little. I did see it on a Spanish channel before a few years back, though.

We get it on Teletoon sometimes. They play old shows from decades back. Every so often, the Racoons comes on.

Its more a Canadian channel, but we get US shows too. Better than our Canadian shows...

The Raccoons are Canadian, I recall. So it's not surprising the show's still on the air over there.

I remember that show. It's one of my long lost favorites. Also the reason I liked that show. It's because in Super Mario Bros. 3 Mario used a raccoon tail (and ears) to fly. Not only I have the game I also have the Super Mario Bros. 3 Cartoons on DVD.

I always liked raccoons, and SMB3 was always one of my fav games. I recently got the "Adventures of SMB3" DVD boxset. Is that what you have? I always liked that show, though I kinda prefer the "Super Mario Super Show" personally.

Funny thing is, I saw a spanish dub of "The Raccoons" on a spanish channel a few days ago. Shame I can't speak Spanish.

Yup. I have The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 DVD Boxset. All 26 episodes and The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! on DVD. Volumes 1 and 2. By the way, I just had a great idea. Why don't you draw a picture of Bert Raccoon and Super Mario together?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Beau-Skunk In reply to ivang [2007-11-08 05:41:34 +0000 UTC]

I have all 3 of those boxsets now to.

Bert & Mario seem like an odd combination of characters, but we'll see.

SMB3 one of the best Mario games of all time.

Anyways sorry I can't do any requests right now. I'm scannerless at the moment. (See my journal)

Oh my favorite world in SMB3 is World 6 Iced Land. Which one is your favorite?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Beau-Skunk In reply to ivang [2007-11-11 07:52:00 +0000 UTC]

I like alot of them, but I think my favorite world is #4 Giant Land. (Sometimes called "Big Island" in some older versions of the game.)
Ya gatta love stomping those jumbo goombas. I also love getting the tanooki suit there.

ivang In reply to Beau-Skunk [2007-11-11 16:14:46 +0000 UTC]

Also in the SNES and GBA versions they used the original names. Those are the names I like. But the SMB3 I'm playing on my Wii is the new version where all the names have been change. Also Toad says "You can only miss twice!" instead of "Miss twice and your out!"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Beau-Skunk In reply to ivang [2007-11-13 09:49:20 +0000 UTC]

You meen the "Something Land" ones? I kinda liked those better to.
(I kinda liked how they named Bowser's kingdom as "Dark Land" instead of something more cliche like "The Koopa Kingdom" or something.)

Oh no! They're correcting the famous "engrish" dialogue?! That's part of the beauty of early Nintendo games!
Now future generations can't enjoy lines like, "A winner is you!"

ivang In reply to Beau-Skunk [2007-11-13 15:59:59 +0000 UTC]

Yes. Also Luigi still looks the same as Mario. They didn't change his looks.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Beau-Skunk In reply to ivang [2007-11-13 19:49:32 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, though in the official artwork for SMB3 & SMW Luigi looks different from Mario.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ivang In reply to Beau-Skunk [2007-11-13 20:44:38 +0000 UTC]

The game should be called "Super Mario Twins 3" since both Mario and Luigi look the same. Even though in the artwork and in the cartoons they don't. Oh I also notice that DiC did not change the color of Mario and Luigi's shirt and overalls in the SMB3 and SMW cartoons.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Beau-Skunk In reply to ivang [2007-11-14 05:02:01 +0000 UTC]

My guess is they wanted to keep the same color schemes to help tie the show in with the previous SMB Super Show cartoon, and to keep the characters more familier looking.

Though they did change Mario's hair from black to brown to corrispond with the games. (Some earlier SMB3 series episodes still had Mario's hair black, I must add.)

ivang In reply to Beau-Skunk [2007-11-14 05:19:16 +0000 UTC]

Did you notice that Luigi's hair color in all 3 cartoons is black. I think that was Mario and Luigi's original hair color: Black. Not Brown. Also Luigi's eyes were green. Not blue. Which I think that was Luigi's original eye color. Until Nintendo change them to blue to match Mario.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Beau-Skunk In reply to ivang [2007-11-14 05:29:32 +0000 UTC]

Their hair was indeed black in the old games. (I know, because I was alive back then.) It became brown in 1990 with SMB3.
And Princess Toadstool/Peach's hair used to be more brownish/reddish until it became blonde in SMW.

I think in all of the official game illistrations (old & new) Luigi's eyes were blue. Green-eyed Luigi was just a slight cartoon redesign. A few older game illistrations (not all of them) also gave Bowser blue eyes instead of red like they are nowadays to.

ivang In reply to Beau-Skunk [2007-11-14 05:41:52 +0000 UTC]

But while your playing the game. You'll notice that Mario's hair is still black due to the 8-bit color rules. Also in SMW. Mario's hair is also black. And Luigi still looks the same as Mario in SMW (SNES version).

Beau-Skunk In reply to ivang [2007-11-14 06:24:32 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I noticed all of that to.

Y'know there was a version of Super Mario World where Luigi looked taller, and thinner then Mario. It was included in a compilation SMW+Super Mario All-Stars game wich was included with SNES systems in the mid 90s.

ivang In reply to Beau-Skunk [2007-11-14 15:29:11 +0000 UTC]

Yes. Also in the GBA version Luigi is taller than Mario.
