An embryo would have a bigger head in proportion to the body. This here would be a fetus.

The diver has the pose of a baby in the belly of her mother and that long cord would be the umbilical cord?

I love the womb position idea. (:

It gives me an "at peace" feeling. It's so simple but the vibes and colors make me stare it for longer. The colors you use in your art do that to me a lot, it always stays interesting even if I keep looking at it.

Very good, simply through that postion and by how isolated he is, he seems so gentle and at peace...

thanks! I'm glad it gets this through. This is how I have often felt in the sea, underwater. It's a remarkable feeling.

Beautiful colors, and the design is amazing. It doesnt feel like there's a human in massive-gear but that how you portray it is actually how this creature looks. Quite peculiar

cor. how on earth do you get colours like that?

begemott In reply to BabysInBlack [2007-12-12 23:08:54 +0000 UTC]

hehe
u know, this time was the first time I started observing how colors work when I use them. I think that it is the contrasts in small areas that give the colors an interesting appearance. Example: I made the lineart redish for the first time. This didnt only affect the way the lineart looks, but made the color of the suit much more interesting. Or, for another example, I first painted the background with a solid green color, and then blended in a bluish tone with a soft brush. The result was boring, flat and generally crappy. So, I made a solid green bg again and painted the blue with two very textured brushes, which left gaps, letting the other color through. Although the colors I used where exactly the same, the result the second time looked MUCH more vivid.

hehe, I think I have lots to learn about color. And probably that was a more detailed answer than you expected

Agreed! I'm really amazed by your great use of color in your pieces. It seems so simple, and yet it's very arresting. And great sense of composition, as well!

Totally fantastic. I assume this figure is supposed to look in utero?

Great use of color. And even though I have the felling that this is supposed to evoke a baby in the womb, I see this figure as so isolated.

Very powerful.

I want to do comic books with you.

hehe, thanks a lot! Yes, I was thinking of an baby in the womb. It's more of how sea makes me feel sometimes. At peace and so far away that it's like nothing else exists.
