Description Illustration for "Quotidien Jurasien" (it's a newpaper in my country) . My boss demands, one day, a drawing with theme : teenager and the death or sadness.

Illustration pour le "quotidien jurasien" (un journal de ma région). Mon Chef m'a demandé via email pour illustrer un article qui se nomme "les jeunes et le deuil / la mort". Le but de ce dessin est de montrer la tristesse mais d'une façon plus douce. Le ballon illustre le bonheur parti, le défunt qui monte dans les cieux. Image très triste et parfois dur, mais elle est douce pour sa catégorie ;D

Sad is correct, I sorta feel for this person.

Once the balloon is gone, she realizes she's now completely alone..

OR IS SHE?

No, she is not, for Jesus is always there with her, she simply needs to look up and see the light.

I imagine, that after those moments that the balloon has gone away, she sits there with her hands on her knees, feeling like all hope is gone..

But then. I ray of light shines down from the top of that abyss that she's in, she looks up, squints a bit, and then sees the warmest, most loving hand reach out towards her, she looks at it with hesitation, not knowing whether or not she should follow or not.

Will she grab the hand, before i answer, let me ask you.

What would you do?

Complete restoration and freedom from the abyss, yet we hesitate to act...
You can complete the tale I have just told you..

Pour commencer, pourquoi parler de Jésus? Mon art n'est pas du christianisme. Elle est pour tous les adolescents de toutes les religions. Ce que je voulais exprimer, c'est la tristesse qu'un adolescent éprouve lors de la perte d'une personne qui lui ait chère. Le ballon exprime son être cher qui s'en va vers le "paradis" laissant derrière lui son amie seule. Mais là n'est pas la question. Pourquoi est-elle seule? Eh ben, les spectateurs peuvent avoir plusieurs solutions. 1) elle aimerait être seule 2) on l'a abandonné. Il est clair qu'elle sera seule de courte durée. (étant donné que le spectateur a envie de lui réconforté) mais ce dessin est crée pour montrer l'instant de solitude, l'instant éphémère du sentiment de tristesse. C'est une émotion qui arrive quotidiennement de nos jours. Nous sommes tous confrontés à rencontrer cet élément. On ne peut pas dire "Jésus est côté de toi, il veille sur toi". Ceci n'est que spirituelle.

Les hommes ont besoin de la chaleur ("the light") l'entraide est certes importante pour notre vie. Il faudrait vraiment être inhumain pour la laisser seule! Le titre n'est que garniture. L'image que j'ai crée insiste aux spectateurs de venir l'aider. De lui parler.

true! No one should be alone, but sometimes... after the friend's death for example, a lot of people are alone.

Thats when I usually get dragged in, I'm best at comforting people and being there for them. Its not bad, I kinda like it except the part of the friend dieing... xD Someone should comfort them, especially their family member.

hmm yes, and I think that for teenagers, it is the hardest passage to be supported. Arf :S I'm a teenager and when I'm sad, I sometimes want to be alone... xD But when I'm alone, I draw
