Overwatch fanart- Khutulun, Eagle Hunter

I thought a pet class hero would be interesting, and loved the Mongolian eagle hunters. That’s why I created her. (her abilities were created to directly counter the current Brig Armor meta! see Artstation link for other sketches and abilities)
backstory: “Khutulun, was born native in Mongolia, one of the tribe that still kept their Eagle training tradition. Her village was wiped out by the remnant Omnics from the last Omnic Crisis. With parents and family slaughtered, she and her pet Eagle, Sarnai were the sole survivors. Sarnai were critically injured, and were just clinging on to it life. Dr. Angela Ziegler has learned Khutulun’s story, and decided to step in and give Sarnai a second chance. She used the cybernetic technology that was developed for Genji and gave it to Sarnai, which saved it life.
Khutulun were deeply moved by the what Dr. Ziegler had done for her, and decided to work hard and pay her back some day. She stayed and learned as an apprentice of Dr. Ziegler, travelled around the world.”

It took me a long time to realize this isn't official Overwatch art. You nailed their concept art style! She looks so good!
I also have a huge fascination for Mongolian themed characters and their eagle hunters. I would also love to see a pet class hero in Overwatch too. Animal friends are cool and they haven't use that idea for their characters yet.
I wasn't too fond of the latest character, Wrecking Ball, but I came to accept it. Maybe the Overwatch studio thought "Winston is the only animal character, and we haven't had any comic relief since Junkrat, so we will combine the problem solution in a hamster controlling a mech." I swear, there's even a Jetpack Cat in their official concept art, also just for shits and giggles.
I believe that Overwatch is concerned about diversity, and I can respect that. But I still kinda want to get a new BADASS character any time soon. Not cutiepie-badass like Briggite, or sassy-badass like Sombra. I mean BADASS-badass. I remember being super hyped about the Doomfist trailer, because that's the kind of badass I'm talking about. Khutulun would be a great idea for such a new badass character!

Thank you, I'm glad you like it, I think wrecking ball is great in because of its uniqueness comparing to heroes from all the other game.Both Gameplay and the aesthetic.
Next badass character is probably going to be the Junkertown Queen that everyone was hyped about a while back, we'll see!

Good design, but not much of a fan of her abilities. Not enough interaction with the bird and the ult is just an aoe.
I'd make the bird attack at the same time you shoot, give vision of the enemies to the player when released and carry the grenades.
For the ult i was thinking of something like Mordecai from borderlands and make the bird follow and attack enemies near your reticule. Pecking their face to obstruct vision could be a fine mechanic too.

Cool concept, but you know hunting with eagles is traditionaly kazakh thing, not mongolian. Turkic people are most famous for hunting with golden eagels

I image she can have the eagle do bombing runs that the opponent can't stop. Also control the eagle to fly around Khutulun buffing the player and any ally close by. Awesome work.

A pet class hero would definitely be interesting and (hopefully, but not likely) stabilize the meta enough that we could get 'repeat' hero classes without immediate fear of upsetting the balance. That, and a girl that commands a cyborg eagle sounds totally badass.
