Wow. It seems like forever since I started this piece. About time I finished it, eh? Unfortunately, I think I left it go so long that I lost some of the original vision, but I'm still quite happy with it. I ended up losing the other hatchling, because it seemed to clutter the piece. It also seemed awkward with one hatchling and the mother gazing lovingly at each other with the other left out of the moment.

This was a fun experiment in color, as I played around quite a lot with different colors in the scales. I wanted a little bit of a luminescence. I achieved it better in some spots than in others. I ended up keeping the background fairly simple since the background isn't the focus.

I often have some trouble with light and shadow when working with outdoor, daylight pieces. The lighting is far from perfect here, but I think I did okay.

Anyway. It's essentially finished. I'm noticing now a few places that could use touch-ups and I might do that later.

I'll be moving all previous versions to my scraps.
