Slapping gears on something does not make it look like a product of Victorian-era technology ("steampunk"). They should look like they have a practical purpose, as though they add to the weapon's function.
A wonderful job on the rest of the weapon, nonetheless! Nerf guns lend themselves very well to being "steampunked."

I agree, I like to have everything I make actually DO something. Not just sit there and look pretty.

Well the large ones are for a Wheellock loading system. Much like the 15th century period Wheellock firing mechanism. Only for loading instead of firing. Much like the early pistols the gears are mounted on the side of the gun. EXACTLY like the REAL historical guns. Granted its more renaissance then Victorian, I still like it. The small gear on the front raises and lowers the front sight. The gear on the very back tightens the stability cables, for the stock. The gear on the sliding top piece is actually helping hold that in place as you cock the gun. And lastly the small one above the handle is just there for show! lol

Well GOOD!! Unlike many, many "steampunkers," you actually know your Victorian tech. My commendations!
And my apologies for my late response, I got a virus from DA a while ago and I've been avoiding this site out of fear!

Very nice conversion. I think I have that gun in my parts pile...or at least some of it. Hadn't figured out what to do with it yet.

Not the guns. TRF dosn't like them. In fact a lot of the stores selling steam punk stuff in the last few years have bin fined for doing so.

Um Not really for this one. This is defiantly a advanced Gun to do. Its not just painted, with some gears tack on the side. There are gears running all though out the guns interior, with added mounted lights and leather work. not to mention the fact that I changed the whole stability and balance of the gun. I'm a mechanical engineer and a full blown Horologist. there are lots of other Tuts for simpler guns.
