Wow, awesome job!
By the way, my workflow is pretty similar, and the biggest pain I have with it, is getting rid of those lines left from previous steps (I tried to keep them on a separate layer, but if i just turn it off the painting looks like a blurred mosaic). So I have to tediously paint out each and every one of them. Any advice?

I don't know how long it took. I started it like month ago, but I was taking long breaks. There were days where I worked on it only few mins. In total I would say it was ~12h ... but that's just guessing : <.
