So... If I am understanding this correctly anime proportions are basically dumbed down versions of actual proportions and the eyes are much bigger? Don't take this as me beign an ass. As of late I have become interested in drawing manga again (I started drawing Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon when I was a little kid) and I want to do a better job of it.

Yeah mate, thats pretty much it. tho as for the eyes, thats really a style matter, some people draw the eyes alot smaller and closer to proportions found on a real face. It depends on the type of character and the expression you are trying to achieve ultimately.
And had a look at your gallery too, looks like you got some skills there mate! Nice work!!!

Wow, thanks man! Yeah I've become really interested in manga lately so I am just trying to get the basics down. The hardest part for me has been the facial features (mouth and nose) head in profile, and the neck. But each ones and improvement. I see what your saying about the eyes, they seem to be the butter and bread of manga artists haha.

Shouldn't you teach a person realistic human proportions first? I feel you should have an understanding of how an object really is before you go and stylize it.

Yes I agree with your opinion... however, Ive hardly done a comprehensive list of tutorials... it was just one that I made to help some manga beginners. Theres plenty of "how to" for realism around too... So if people want.. they can look them up.

Thanks, with absolutely no previous knowledge about how to daw manga, I managed to draw up something slightly resembling a face. I'll probably use this guide in the future to try and get better. Th was good because without being huge and discouraging and hard to read, it demonstrated the key concepts to creating a decent manga face.

A lot of beginners in the HTDM forums have trouble drawing the faces. This guide will be of great help to them. You should do one for 3/4 and profile view.

Ill see what I can whip up, currently working on 2 different pics for requests, and 1 pic for my own leisure... So might be a week away haha.
