Description I was amazed when I was able to go right up to this bird a snap a picture. It's the first picture I tried using RAW and I'm never going back to shooting jpeg.

I just used a built in effect in lightroom to make it look black * white with a blueish tint.

I think this color is really nice and it's kind of weird how these beautiful birds make them themselves look so fat when they fluffed out.

Thanks, once I figure out HDR I'll start posting some pics in HDR, my friend John (TallJohn from HDR club) was the one that got me into this site. Your work it pretty good from what I've seen so far.

oh nice! well from my experience with HDR the best thing to use is photomatix, photoshop just can't compare with the great colours that photomatix gives if you have any questions feel free to ask! and im glad you like what you see in my gallery

I'll have to give it a try, I've had no luck with photoshop.
What type of exposures should I combine? I've tried up to 5 photos that were just taken a couple shutter aperture stops apart. Should I be doing it more with aperture difference of exposure differences? I probably should be reading a guide somewhere

what i find works best is taking them at a set amount apart..so the easiest way to do that is to take a shot that is in perfect lighting (0) and then a couple underexposed (-1,-2) and a couple over exposed (+1,+2)

I'm not sure which camera you use, but on mine (Canon RebelXT) it has a little...ruler type looking thing (EG -3..-2..-1..0..1..2..3) and it shows you how exposed the photo is gonna be on the scale, and if you set it to AV mode you should be able to move a little line across all the dots to select which exposure you want.

hope that helped

I have a Sony A100 and I do have that ruler as well as a setting that automatically take an under and over exposure. I think I just need to take more picture and learn from experience.
