My friend had given another friend (Jody [link] ) a funny book. I don't actually recall the name of the book but it was pretty much for snobby elitist kids who like to think they're smarter than everyone else. There was this word in the book that was "Kalopsia" and I fell in love with it. I was like, "That's so a word I'd use for a photo title."Edit 4/3/07: Kalopsia means: A state in which things appear more beautiful than they really are

That is a great word! I love it. I love the look of this picture...you can tell there is a human in it...but that is not the main subject of the picture...the heart-shape is. By the way you used the light source you've managed to focus on the heart-shape and drown out the human figure. I like that you covered the eyes with glasses so they don't distract from the none-human element you seem to have going on in this photo.

I am so late to look at it!...It became nearly a week to submit it!...I looked at it two-tree times!..It is better to see you at your photos!..Agree that light and shadows creates our emotions like they did the same for your photograph!....The form of the heart is surrounded light ed and shadowed part of your fingers!..Good idea!...

I love this so much. The shadows are perfect and the subtle bits of color work really well against all the black.
Being the huge nerd that I am I tried looking it up. haha. Apparently it's part of a whole list of obscure words that includes "kerfuffle".

I love the way the shadows work in this piece. It keeps your focus on the bottom half, and mostly on the heart. And I love the glasses, they make you look like a bug. A cute bug.

Muu left me a comment about this photo and I think he said something to the extent of "You're the master of shadows." I was like, "fuck ...wow... I am!" So I'm pretty much stroking my ego by posting this photo. I wanted it to be a print but it's of low quality. I think this photo would be a great first print.

Kalopsia, I believe means something along the lines of "seeing everything as being extremley beautiful." Most of the times when I use words they're always being used because I think they're crass and rough so I like that I mixed it up with a word that isn't so awful. I think I'm tired of seeing hearts in my own art work though.
