Description This started out as another Bierstadt study back in 2005. I decided to finish it off today and make it my own.

I love big big statues in the middle of nowhere (that's probally why I like Naruto and the lord of the rings lol).

Thanks for looking!

Paintshop pro dude! I don't use photoshop it never worked well on my old computers so I haven't bothered trying it since then. Thanks man

AndyFairhurst In reply to BillCorbett [2008-02-14 16:11:15 +0000 UTC]

ahhh I used to use paint shop pro. I dont actually know why I stopped using it.

BillCorbett In reply to AndyFairhurst [2008-02-14 16:15:43 +0000 UTC]

I've used photoshop at work, but I still prefer paintshop pro to be honest. Photoshop seems to be better at somethings and paintshop pro better at others.. I guess it's what you get comfortable with. However people do tend to look down at you when your a paintshop pro user

After looking at your work, I don't know how anyone could ever look down their noses at you for the tools you use. I get that a lot too for having to use the cheap-o elements versions of Photoshop. I get the same results as when I paint with the full version. The only thing I miss about the full version is the pen tool (which I have to bust out my version of PSP7 to use) and the fact that elements is a memory hog on my machine.

I started out on PSP and now I can't use it anymore. It's like trying to learn a new language. It's just not intutive for me. I also like Painter. I just tried their cheap-o stripped down version ( 45 day trial download) and I hated the interface. For both PS elements and Painter essentials (or whatever they call it) they make all the tool palettes enormous, like for half-blind old biddies that have to read the large-print version of books. Drives me nuts!

Anyway, this pic ROCKS.

I tell ya Karyn there are people out there like that. I've been in art classes where people get above themselves because they've got the complete set of winsor&newton. Dosen't make them better than anyone else but it seems to make them think they're more professional for having them

Nyrak In reply to BillCorbett [2008-02-19 00:42:13 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I remember THOSE people. LOL. Oh well. We'll just thumb our noses at them, right?

I used to love PSP I think the reason I stopped using it was laziness. It took me ages to pluck up the courage to start using PS then I spent ages learning how that worked and sort of forgot about PSP.

I reckon that I will have to make the switch at some point, I tried PSP 9 & 10 and I don't like either! I may even have to go down the painter route (second hand copy as usual).

great work again, and I really love how you get such a traditional feel to your work

BillCorbett In reply to JulieFairhurst [2008-02-14 16:02:51 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, I strife for that look but it's probally because until 2003 I painted with acrylics and watercolour before going digital.

JulieFairhurst In reply to BillCorbett [2008-02-14 17:12:39 +0000 UTC]

I think the last time I did anything traditional was about 2 years ago! Watercolour is something I could never get the hang of...I may give it another go at some point!!

Do you miss painting traditionally?
