Description Another picture of Oliver.

Little (although not so little anymore!) Oliver and another calf were acquired by a family who entrusted the care of them to their teenage daughter. But when she neglected them, the babies' lives took a turn for the worst. Their neglect was finally reported, but by then it was too late for Oliver's friend; he died shortly after arriving at the Animal Control facilities.

As male Jerseys, a breed of cattle used by the dairy industry, Oliver and his friend were likely of no use to the farm on which they were born, and, after being separated from their mothers, were probably taken to auction and sold. The reason why the teenager had been given the calves to raise is unknown, but the fact that they shouldn’t have been in her care is clear. Unfortunately, most other male dairy calves don’t fare much better. Often slaughtered as mere babies for cheap veal or simply discarded as trash.

Oliver arrived at Farm Sanctuary in Orland, California extremely malnourished. After finally being treated with the proper care, along with lots of love and affection, his health dramatically improved, and is a whole new baby.

He has since become friends with another calf, Elliot (who is younger than Oliver but much larger!), and spend their days romping around, munching on grass and hay, and showing off their completely adorable selves to everyone who will pay attention (and with their faces, it's hard not to!). Oliver also loves to knock down any bucket he can run his little horns into, and has a noticible facination with Blaise, one of the cats at Farm Sanctuary.

Adorable!! I think it's horrible male dairy cows are treated so cruelly, I'd love to adopt one
