Truthfully, this is not much, but it was fun to draw.
I've read a couple of fics where Hiccup is said to be a very good archer, which is plausible considering how he aimed at Toothless with his bolas canon. So I decided to draw him -a bit older, mind you- practising archery. And yes, the arrow's on fire, but don't ask me why
But after I was done, I realised all of a sudden that I had made Hiccup right-handed out of pure habit, so please forgive me for not having paid enough attention to that little detail 
In the top right corner, we've got a slightly younger Hiccup (who, for some odd reason, makes me think of Oliver Twist saying "Please, sir, I want some more."...Go figure.)
Oh and of course there's Astrid. She's a bit pissed off since her Deadly Nadder (which I named Starkad, by the way) seemingly wants to keep sleeping instead of listening to her rider...

Hiccup as an archer makes sense. The bow with arrows is a light weapon and he's shown to have good accuracy in regards to aim.
And he looks damned cute, too!

Yes, I definitely see him as an excellent archer and a very good swordman (he is amazing with a sword..in the books, at least).

Hm, it would be ironic, huh? A dragon and rider who use range weapons. If I was a Viking going to attack Berk, I'm just gonna go hide behind something sturdy enough to withstand both Night Fury fire and flaming arrows.
...Does something like that even exist?

Wonderful sketches. I really love the Hiccup one on the top.
I read a few about him being a good archer as well. He does seem to have good accuracy, and archery is a good skill, especially since he spends alot of time on Toothless, and wouldn't be able to hand-to-hand without getting off.
It's okay, you're not the only one who keeps forgetting he's left handed.. I actually didn't realize that he was until about a month after the movie when someone pointed it out to me....

Ya know, there was serious stigma against people who were left-handed because it was considered unlucky, etc. Which just, even slightly and without intention, shows how deeply isolated Hiccup was due to his differences form the rest of the tribe.

Mayhaps Hiccup's ambedextrious at archery? Granted he'd probably use his dominant side most often, but I (and several fellow archers) have at least passable ability at using bows on either side^^

Yes, I am^^ One of the few sports I have any talent in. But whenever I shoot using my left side (my non-dominant) my aim goes awry---I can shoot the arrow just fine, but the odds of hitting my target go way, way down.
