I loved the story of Persephone when I first read it in school, and a few weeks ago it popped into my head for no clear reason. I ended up drawing my depiction of the beautiful woman-turned immortal, and finally got around to coloring her today. I was trying to make her look regal and give her a sort-of feeling of sadness. I'm not quite sure how well it worked, but I am fond of the dress.Related content

Cool design for the dress. The red with black, somewhat reminds me of vines spinning around her. But that's just my impression of it.

Oooo, I think you achieved your idea. The black and red dress is especially neat. Makes me think of a rose. Isn't Persephone the one that Hades captures and her mother weeps (thus we have winter)?

The amount of detail you put into this was great, I absolutely love it, the only thing that looks off to me is her necklace, it kinda looks.. not all connected...

Oh, it isn't all connected, but I did it on purpose. It was supposed to be one of those really expensive necklaces with the big center piece, a few beads, and strung on the fishline-type stuff. Those are gorgeous. But thank you; this picture is rather unlike all my other ones, and it was really fun to do ^_^ Glad you liked it!

That's a very beautiful renditioning of Persephone. I love that story so much. I read it in the eigth grade. I need to go to the library and find a book with it, now. XD

No, actually, it only took me about an hour to color, then half an hour playing around with the background before I came up with that SAD excuse for a BG ^_^' I color fast.
