Must get groove back... By starting with this! Okay, I enjoyed the Transformers Prime episode Predatory - which was the inspiration for the title!

Ah, the Jack-o'-lantern. A quintessential item considered to be 'associated chiefly with the holiday of Samhain and Halloween and was named after the phenomenon of strange light flickering over peat bogs, called ignis fatuus or jack-o'-lantern.' According to Irish folklore Stingy Jack, a devious, lazy, and manipulative drunkard, trapped the Devil on two occasions - one as a silver coin with a crucifix inside his pocket, and 10 years later, trapped in an apple tree surrounded by multiple crucifixes. When the former died, he was not allowed to enter the gates of Heaven, nor he was allowed to enter Hell (due to a demand being fulfilled in the second part). As a result, Jack was doomed to roam around the netherworld - with his ember inside a hollowed turnip/Swede - which probably became the influence of the pumpkin in later times.

In my way of saying it, it would be considered one of the many beacons for attracting costume-goers who ask 'Trick-or-treat'! But since I needed to get back to origami making, I decided to do a paper version instead of the trouble of carving a real pumpkin, no offence.

Created in 1996 by Sy Chen, this pumpkin face would be considered a little above basic level, in nine steps. Utilising a large piece of orange paper, I glued it to a piece of black paper approximately the same size, and lo' and behold! Despite not being hollow, I'd say that would be a worthwhile... even though nobody stopped at our house probably because it was in a Cul-de-sac (no through road). Ah well, I guess I could have myself a free treat tomorrow!
