Inktober 3! The prompt is “runes”.
The only runes I could think of to draw a picture based around were the runes engraved on the triangular earring that Griffol wears.

The charm, made to be used as anything from a necklace to an earring, was given to Griffol by Heliozhir when they were young, and the etching was made with help from Sephaera.
It is a sacred, holy rune among the mermaid people; often engraved upon the armors of soldiers heading into battle.
The rune is meant to bestow godly protection upon the bearer and guide them safely back home from war.

After an unfortunate first patrol in which Griffol was badly injured and several hunter recruits were killed, Heliozhir set about crafting this black metal trinket in an effort to protect his friend.

Griffol is not allowed to leave the guild without it.
Punishable by being smacked relentlessly with whatever heavy tome Zhir has in his hands that day.
