These are the two main characters from the detective comic I'm planning, which I've decided to call Elementary! after a song I heard.On the left is Cedric, the detective, and on the right is Anna, the sidekick. I've basically given up on trying to make Cedric look more like an aye-aye; if I tired any harder he'd have to look insane. So even though he looks rather like a bat, I'm leaving it here. Also his hair isn't gray from age, it just has that color naturally. He is 30 years old and Anna is 15. He's like her teacher, big-brother, or favorite uncle.
Anna is a Honduran white bat - one of my favorite chiroptera because of its distinct look. Her scarf is green to match the leaves where these bats make "tents". I'm still playing with her outfit, but I want it to recall a hipster, haha.
Also my headcanon voices for them are Jeff Goldblum and Kristen Schaal. I think they both have interesting voices, especially Schaal.
And lastly I put a paper texture on this for fun. I think it came out okay.

Yeah, I was listening to a remix song with his voice in it and then I realized it was a perfect fit. XD I like how people's voices can sound totally different when they're speaking in a low voice versus shouting or just talking. Everyone has that difference but I think I hear it a lot in Goldblum's voice.

Well you can make the wings separate. Like- Her wings on her back and then her regular arms in front. Orrr- She can have awkward hand-wings. But I dunno how she'd hold things--

I'm going to make her wings separate, I just have to decide how large they should be and how thoroughly the membrane attaches. Also her feet have to have long fingerlike toes, and that might be tough to draw.

In October last year I sketched at least one bat every day of the month. I focuses mostly on Pteropus bats - that is, the flying foxes - but I did some others, including vampire bats, because they're super-cool. So I learned some different feet then. I just need to apply the knowledge. ^^

It's a simple whodunnit what focuses more on the main two characters rather than the mystery... so it won't be real complicated plot-wise. I'm still filling in a ton of details, haha. But the very, very basic script is planned and such.
