Got that shirt for christmas, and wanted to do a shoot with it. Roses are fake, some I found at my grandparents house. I have too many window shots haha.I can't seem to like this, crits?

The model (who i assume is you) posed well. The stance is relaxed and natural and conveys the mood of the piece.
I like the shirt. And your choice of the faux roses corresponds well with the pattern. You can see the hints of red and green across the clothing.
Over all i like the colors. They are a bit cool but it works. The violet wash and light accents of pale red and green mash well with the silhouette style of the shot.
But i feel the lighting does little to help the composition. Details such as the hair and parts of the shirt are washed out in the over powering shadows. I can't help but feel a different light source would have created a stronger photograph. Perhaps more fontal lighting would have done the trick.
Also i feel the shot would have worked better without a vignette if taken like a silhouette. Any other lighting direction and it would be fine.
I just think a bit more frontal light would have brought out more details in the shadows and shirt. But overall this is a great portrait with a good color pallet and a great pose on the model's part.

I agree with this critique on all points.
-The bad ones: the vignette, I'm not a big fan either. It is a bit too pronounced. For the light, maybe not a frontal one, but two coming from each side of the model, enhancing the "backlighting" effect and bringing details as well, or if you want to keep it "natural", just a white reflector next to the camera, close enough to make a difference, far enough to be out of the frame, of course.
-The good ones: Nice color palette, great pose, great clothes, and the use of the fake rose is good because the colors stand out better than if it had been a true one.
Overall, I really like this

I agree with dave the duck for the most part. and with you too! Perhaps a bit too much reliance on windows. Some frontal lighting would have highlighted the details. The pose and composition were terrific, even though centered. I love this photograph and look forward to seeing more from you.

do you use a light meter? either hand held or one built in to the camera? It will help you injudging your exposure and keep you from beoming a 'silouette'

This a great shot, so powerful, it just draws you to it. The colors and modeling are spot on. The only thing I would even begin to criticize is the centered composition, but that's minor. Much love for this piece.
