"Katniss is sixteen years old (later described as seventeen in Catching Fire and Mockingjay) and is described as having long, black hair, usually in a braid, gray eyes, and olive skin. These traits are common in the Seam, the lower class miners of District 12. She is small in stature and light for her age, being one of the smallest tributes in her games, but due to her outdoor life, she is strong for her size."I've been meaning to create some kind of fan art for the Hunger Games. The movie is expected to be released in 2013, according to IMDb; I guess this piece was in spirit of that.

One of the best interpretations of Katniss I've seen. She looks very exotic and foreign, like she's from some distant land. The eyes are also amazing!!! They kinda are a combination of purity and strength. She is maybe a LITTLE prettier than I imagined, but hey, it's your imagination

Thank you! I agree -- the cheekbones could have been less prominent, but they looked a little awkward when I lightened them. I'd like to imagine it as a portrait of the severely underweight Katniss Everdeen. Haha.
