Description My first time on Space Mountain scared me...badly. Even more so than the Matterhorn. I mean it seriously messed me up. It wasn't until I was 11 years old that I was able to ride it again. It quickly became my favorite ride, but everytime I still felt the growing fear, the butterflies in the pit of my stomach. The old moving sidewalk was the best, and worst...once on it, you felt locked in to your course. Sure, there would likely be a line on the platform above you, but we all know that once you're up there you don't want to lose face by abandoning the queue. I remember the feel of the hard rollers under the sturdy rubber belt, how they would massage your tired feet while carrying you up. And the view of those glowing white spires at night, taunting you...taking you up to the point of no return.

I miss the moving sidewalk...I also miss how the queue used to take you past a section where you could see into the show building, seeing star fields and hearing the rushing cars on the roller coaster track. It made you ache to be on that ride...

I loved the clean retro future look of the old Tomorrowland, and Space Mountain seems to retain that look at least.

You know what I remember about the pre-refurb Space Mountain queue area? That godawful orange patio tile. I mean, I know it was installed in the 70's and all, but honestly...

I had the misfortune of standing on that bare-footed once. I squirmed out of my sandals, and in the summer heat, regret followed.

Oh, the moving sidewalk! Even today, I'll recall it fondly. "Remember when the line used to start here?" I'll say. One time, Kellee, my mom and I were eating lunch up there, under the umbrellas, and Pluto came by and licked my face. ^____^

Was it slobbery? Sorry...don't answer that...'cause I don't really want to know if it was.

No, but the actor made the slurping noise. ^_^
