what quality did you render this at?

I'm just curious if the grain was intentional

The quality was set at 2000.
Putting it on a white backround made the grainy look
stand out more. I rendered in both black and white backround.

It might be interesting to see if a quality of 4000-5000 would clean it up. Did you post-process render in apophysis?

With only 2 gigs of ram 4 to 5 thousand on quality would
be a very long render to be sure. But it's a good point.
I do post-process on some renders but not all.
I can tell you that with a black back round the graininess
disappears. I made a decision to use the white back round
just for a change.

An example of the black back round: [link]

I guess I am just addicted to post-process rendering : )

How long do your renders normally last?

I have 2 gigs too, but I am willing to wait 6 hours for a 10,000Q fractal (it's a nice surprise when I get back from work)

Size 2080x1300
Quality 10000
Oversample 6, Filter 0.04
1,490.92 Mb memory
start: 2:45:44 PM
finish 9:59:44 PM

Ok, my vertical renders are usually 4000x6000 so I can get
a larger variety of print sizes.
"Spiraled Lace" was just short of 12 hrs.
I've had a few renders that were up to 24 or more hrs. because of the type of plug-ins
I was using that seem to use more ram.
My latest image that I posted looks very smooth and I'm quite pleased with it's quality.
It's called "Flaming Blue Meanie". Feel free to take a look.
Thanks for your input.

Thanks Janet. I just kept toying with the parameters and
I started seeing the curvature of the lines. Needless to say I was
surprised and pleased.
