Description I was given the challenge of "do some calligraphy" by one of my pottery instructors. I'm not a huge fan of my ability to do English calligraphy, so, I did Vulcan instead.

ICID - Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. Golic Vulcan that I got from [link]

This is a non-functional Raku vessel. The script was written with a bamboo brush with wax (clear wax over white clay equals invisible scripts while writing it, an interesting challenge). Once the wax was dry, I pored the glaze over the vessel. The wax resisted the water-based glaze, leaving the script uncovered. In the reduction firing, the naked clay (script, and base) blackened thanks to smoke from the process.

About ten inches tall. Solidate clay. I'll probably be trying this again with a bigger piece. Very pleased with the results.
