I love a highly surreal dichotomy of the quicksand I see here! It's the smoothness of the developed, highly-viscous adhesion of the mire to Jane's tugged-up thigh, coupled with the concentric, ponderously undulating masses of agitation, suggesting deep, thick liquid around her that I find extraordinary! The lighting (suggesting an approaching twilight) of this golden bog is deliciously dramatic! And the behavior of her ruffled skirt being caught and being swallowed with such particular attention being paid to the sinking individual convolutions of its ruffling I find is an exquisite ally in making this portrayal sensually convincing! The fashionableness of her skirt is an elegant and exotic statement of her origins from 'civilization' melding with jungle girl iconography and seeing it being ingested by quicksand tells both the whole story and back-story!
