I'm just getting somewhat goo at them so I looked closely where the color meets the B&W..... great job!

I need to learn how to apply shadows where there is none but should be! - Pointers?

I'm not sure what you mean by adding shadows... as it to darken (dodge) and area?
That is pretty simple in photoshop, I have never used corel, but there should be a brush that you can use and just go over the area you would like to dodge.
