Beautiful! How did you get the water to look like that? <3

boldfrontiers In reply to Dragorne [2014-06-11 03:53:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Without boring you with too many details, I used a neutral density filter (like a dark tinted window) to leave the camera sensor open for a longer amount of time to capture more silky movement... plus some HDR processing to reveal more subtle shades of contrast.

That sounds good :3 I love photography, I've always wanted to take it up as a hobby, so I'm doing a course on it this summer at a university <3

Wonderful If it's an intro class the teacher might ask as a brain teaser what the most important thing in photography is. I remember instinctively answering composition and other students proposed other technical aspects like focus, aperture, etc... but the correct answer is Light

I'll remember that incase it comes up :3 I'm really looking forward to it though cause I get to stay at the university, its kind of like summer school? But my parents keep on joking that when I get back I will want them to buy me a camera so that I can take it up as a hobby <3

boldfrontiers In reply to Dragorne [2014-06-14 03:41:22 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't think of summer university courses like summer school because summer school to me comes with a negative connotation... ie making up for low grades in high school versus earning extra credits in a shorter amount of time in university. The faster you can earn college credits the earlier you can graduate and get your degree. A big plus if you take some summer courses in a discipline that you might fall in love with like photography. Reason more to hint hint wink wink at your parents what you might want for Christmas or your birthday

I think they are already planning for a camera for me this Christmas. I have always had a passion for photography, but never had the time to take it up properly. Can't wait to do the course. It should be in a bout a months time :3

Wish you the best of luck When I was studying I stayed silent for the most part in class just taking notes. Except when it came to photography & design that is, because I was very passionate it and wanted to pick at the teachers' brains based on their own experiences beyond the standard cousre curriculum. Some interactive tips & tricks so to speak that might help you steer towards a more distinct style.

Thank you :3 I normally stay quiet in lessons too, unless I'm pretty passionate. I was so chatty in art and then in maths....silence

I LOVE water, particularly when it's in a roaring, powerful scenario like a water fall. The long exposure you did helps add to the majesty and gives it an almost mystical look to it. Bravo
