Well, this is my first real attempt at anything like this, so there are a lot of mistakes and a lot I am satisfied with.The model here is my friend, Jackie, who is sometimes referred to as a fallen angel. Hence the title. XD
Feel free to tear me a new one with your commentary.

Yeah. This was my first try at anything like this and it really shows. The light was indeed coming head on, that's why the shading is like that. I'm not too pleased with it overall, especially those damned eyelashes, but it was a marked improvement in my abilities at the time, so it holds a special place inside.
I've kinda begun to move away from this area in my drawing and have decided to stick with what I'm good at and making strides in improving my skills in that area. And that of course, is monsters and various other filthy things.

I am still a lowly noob when it comes to portraits. I'm kind of taking a little break from them because the paper I am using is crap and leaves them looking very grainy.
But I will keep pluggin' away and try to improve as fast as I can.

It always sucks when the paper you use isn't exactly want you had in mind. I used to use computer paper when I did stuff like you do, but it always smudged horribly. Grainy paper actually makes it look textured, I think, and it makes it the more realistic. Anyways, whatever paper it is, I like it.

Yeah, I just want to experiment with all sorts of paper types. Being self-taught, I really don't have any experience with all manner of materials, so I use what I can get.

Thanks a lot! Yeahh this was my first ever try at this sort of thing so there are a ton of mistakes. Especially the eyelashes... I really blew it there LoL. I have gotten comments with people thinking it was a photoshopped pic so I am glad I did this well, but I intend to improve greatly.

i think it looks very nice, the shading is good, especially in the depths of the eyes.
one thing i would have done difffferently would be to define the eyelashes i little more, its kind of hard to discern them from the shading around the eye.

If you wanna understand better please follow this [link] . It's from someone i absolutely admire in what grafitte can be. Perfect use of shading on her part. Try checking the gallery out. You'd be amazed. I wish i could do it like her!

no... the eye shading... the inside of the iris has something i usually call rays.
the lashes could be a bit darker, that's all.

hrr.. you're the man(but I'm still the woman hehehe) It's really gorgeous, you should do more of those by adding something humane to your pictures.. maybe a person and a Chimera, to comare them in size and uhh.. to show the major difference or something XD

That's actually why I am doing these portraits and stuff. I want to make my monsters realistic. That's the ultimate goal!
