Armistice Day

"The sun now it shines on the green fields of France
There's a warm summer breeze, it makes the red poppies dance.
And look how the sun shines from under the clouds
There's no gas, no barbed wire, no guns firing now.
But here in this graveyard it's still no-man's-land.
The countless white crosses stand mute in the sand,
To man's blind indifference to his fellow man,
To a whole generation that were butchered and damned."

This is a well framed piece. The faceless soldier clutches in his war worn hand a symbol, not only of war, but of life amidst fields of death. He his faceless, and so represents all soldiers who fought and died in the conflict. I think in this context, the barb wire represents the conflict in general. It is rigid, sharp, unforgiven.

Nice piece.

Simply beautiful - fantastic detail, love that you've added the barbed wire in behind the delicate poppy, good contrast. And bonus points for having my favourite war song in the description x

Talk about an instant favorite, this is really amazing. All the little details, the twists in the wire and the lines on the hand, the dirt smudges... really well done. I love the color palette, too, it makes the poppy really stand out. Also really like how you did the bite marks from the wire in his hand. Great work!
