Hi there!
I think I never had the chance or the time or the mood to let you know how much I love your work! It makes me feel so different things, from happiness, smiles and pure out loud laughing at schools pc’s, making my teacher and mates of informatics class think me has a pretty weird, freak and mad student; passing thru sadness, almost crying and really thinking of things that happen in life that we commonly don’t pay much attention of; and also some pure “oh, so cute!”…
Don’t think that even tho I don’t really comment at all (your amazing work) that I don’t see it! In fact, I enjoy every piece of your gallery, I just don’t think myself has a great person on comments and, seeing that you never reply to them, I just keep myself appreciating instead of saying something. But, when I saw this one I just couldn’t stop thinking: Oh, he reads the comments after all, and he seems to like the support… Phillip is human, has feelings!!! And I decided to take some proper time to comment it! Tho, I might be mistaken and you could not be referring to DA people with your description, but to someone else. It could be someone who just brought a smile in your face, in real life (and the nature of this draw really makes me to think of that!) or, it could be just to those people in general, those people who are here in the world, always paying attention, always trying to help and put a smile on your face, just like they smile… I don’t believe they are such living-beings with a face smiling 100% of the time, but they are like that pretty almost all the time!
What I most love in your works is the originality, is that you are quite morbid and surreal at the same time, in some of your deviations, and just as sweet has a human being (I truly believe you’re a Big Mac, Philip!) in some others! And, just right after originality, I love your work because it’s always very expressive!!!
Just like this one: I enjoyed a lot the detail of the rain being in different colours, I’ve noticed the red a lot, because the fella had also drops of it running in the face, like if it was blood and he was beaten up or something (poor fella, a hug to him! ) and the bag he carries really adds to that feeling of he being beaten up at school by some guys trying to steal his lunch, or “just because” (I know this idea is pretty clichéd, but I guarantee: it still happens these days!!!), or maybe a car ran into him… I really can’t know, but I’d sure bet on the last hypothesis, since the work is yours and you are always some surreal and pretty wild ideas!
I can also see that moment, like if it had happened with me, the smiling fella jumping into spots full of water, quite joyful… and I can also imagine (that’s only what I really can do here) his face when he stares at the sad and beaten up fella… and he’d most prolly ask: what’s the matter? Your cat started a fight with ya? (Sorry if it isn’t correct or logical, but I’m just getting into your art spirit! )
I just couldn’t finish this comment without noticing the special drops near the smiling fella’s umbrella. I don’t know why, but it sure draws my attention into it…
Oh, and by the way, why is it untitled? Is it intentional or you just haven’t any ideas? If it was the last situation I have some ideas! if you only be interested in them, please yellow-note or reply me… (But I doubt you’d ever read/anwear this, so… *yeah* Be well, have a nice life!)
I’m sorry if I didn’t give you a proper critique, but I’m not quite familiarized with that kind of work!...
Anyway, it was just to ask you to keep up with the stunning work, please keep also sharing it with us and also your pretty comic and satirique view of life! I’m not prolly your number 1 fan, but still a fan!
Kisses and hugz,
Eloísa Valdes

"this is to all the people who have made another person's day; whether you knew of it, or nay."
I can relate to that big time... People have constantly saved my life over the years and they never even knew it..... most of them at least. I love it, its so sad and simple but beautiful. And the thought behind it just tops it. Charming..

=\
while the intention behind this picture is nice, it *is* a scribble that looks like it took you about 5 minutes or less to make. I was under the impression that the mods *disliked* having scribbles and unfinished stuff as dtfs, which is why they decided to disallow anime and anthro art from getting there...
at any rate, congrats on the dtf, but I won't be faving =\

nooo, what they meant was that they didn't want crappy five minute sketches up here, regardless of intention or section. A crappy 5 min anime sketch is worth about as much as a crappy 5 min sketch from another section, because regardless of intention, it is still a five minute sketch. I don't see why this picture deserved a DTF, because compared to the quality of the other current DTFs, this just doesn't measure up.

I'm sorry, but this is scribble. However, I did look at one of your other pieces and did like it. So don't everyone go telling me that I don't understand this type of art or give me a "everything is art" crap speach.

i like how you've used red tones rather than blue to express sadness. its not typically what one would expect- but it works really well
i really like this.
well done!

... the rain (or ... euh... icy stuff... can't remember the name, "grêle'" in french) seems to go to the sky and not to teh ground... you should have inverted the side you drew it x.x
Beside that, it's neat.
(and is is the end of a bad day for the guy with a umbrella which is seeing that guy under te rain without protection or that poor guy is gonna get help from the one with a umbrella?)

So much emotion in simplicity. Excellent. This piece has more character than most of the photo-realistic stuff out there. Maybe it's just me, but I get the impression of rainfall because of the vert-lines.
