You know...
Β I have a theory that Lapis actually used to be a part of the crystal gem rebellion, but when her gem was stepped on and broken, she got some memory loss.

And Homeworld must know about this. Why? Well it's possible when she returned that she DID help homeworld find the crystal gems (Thus resulting in the season 1 finale) and it was because of this that they didn't shatter or bubble her as punishment, and instead just made her essentially become an alternative form of a pearl

BEAUTIFUL ART WORK!
Also, I never thought of it like that, what would a water gem be doing on planets with no water??Β
God I love this show

Okay first off, GORGEOUS artwork, I need to do a fave raid on your gallery <3
Second, interesting look on who she used to be! I'm one of those people who are also on the side all for her being an aristocrat, even though Same Old World decided to goΒ 'ey fans forget your headcanons here's a tiny thing to go off of :^D'. In my take, I think she may have been some low-ranked member of society until the war involved Earth and her true ultimate power was revealed- turning the tides literally in the battle of humans and Gems. Perhaps from there she became a messenger with those wings of hers like a passenger pigeon, or a spy or backup in the midst of combat. Maybe when BD saw the potential and power this certain blue Gem speciesΒ carried she feared if one would stray to the rebellion side and went all 'I'd rather sink my ship than have it fall in the hands of the enemy' sort of deal, leaving the Lapis we all know as possiblyΒ what could be one of the few that remain- if not, the last.

YEah, me too. Was she like Sapphire, a aristocratic gem?

Not sure about that. From what she narrated in 'Same Old World' it seemed like she was some kind of reporter/civilian? But yeah, I drew this one waaay before that episode aired, and aristocratic Lapis was my headcanon at the time.

Oh god.....In a sense, she filled the other role as a "Pearl"

Depending on what are your headcanons for a Pearl's role, yeah...

Well.....they are servants....so it not out of the realm of possibility that that could be one of their roles......

Yeah, unless gem society is like the egiptian one. You'd think in a society where they had slaves they used them to build pyramids? Wrong. One can't have worthless, inferior beings building up your Pharaoh's grave, after all. So maybe Pearls were so low in rank they were considered too inferior to even get that role and mingle with high rank gems or Diamonds. That's why I thought of Lapis as 'the favourite' in that sence. Why would BD need someone like that if she has a pearl?

Why are you apologizing, dude? I was just explaining my reasoning behind the idea that inspired this fan art but you're free to have your own, I'm not offended
