1. Download Restorator2007 Click
2. Go into your System32 folder and backup the file named imageres.dll to somewhere you will remember.
4. Open up Restorator and navigate to imageres.dll inside your System32 folder (not the one you backed up).
5. On the left it should have a pane with a few different choices. Choose the one called "Icons". When you click that it should have a huge list of numbers.
6. Use your arrow keys to go down through the numbers (each apply to a different icon) and find the one that you would like to change.
7. Right Click on that number in the list and choose Assign>Assign to. It open up a browse window.
8. Find the new icon that you would like to replace the old with and click OK.
9. Once you've replaced all the icons, in Restorator go to File>Save.
10. Exit Restorator and use This to rebuild your Icon Cache and allow your computer to restart.

What?

So much work.

Use Custopack Installer, its free and INSANELY easy to use.

Yup. There is also a guy that does a whole bunch of automated icon patches. Click Much easier than all that. Just have to follow the directions and is also super easy to uninstall when you're bored of them.

I know it's old news but, how did you change the icons of the pinned items?

Love the shot!

What I do is place all the icons you want on your taskbar into one folder. (Don't really need to but I find it easier) If you have some of them already pinned to the taskbar, unpin them. Right click on one of the shortcuts that you would like to change the icon of and choose "Properties". When the windows appears, select "Change Icon" and choose your new icon by clicking "Browse". Re-pin to taskbar and you are done.

So simple!

Here i was thinking you had to edit your registry and all this drivel.

Thanks for the reply.

Linked both sets of icons above. Taskbar icons are from Flurry set and the System icons are Pry by Jonas Rask. Click this to download them
