Baridi, Sarabi’s mom (fan-made), had an affair with a rouge lion weeks after Sarabi was born. Matu, Sarabi’s dad (fan-made), was devastated and during his rage begs Ahadi to exile the pregnant Baridi. Ahadi agrees to send the cub off when she’s old enough, but Baridi must stay to hunt with the other lionesses.

When the Baridi gives birth a plan is made to hide the truth from the newborn so she can learn how to survive without distractions. The cub was named Zira which means ‘keep away’ so others would know she’s an outsider. Sarabi doesn’t mind, and they become close friends. Zira, not knowing the meaning of her name, enjoys life at Pride Rock. After a year…

-Sarabi: “Mother! You’re being stubborn, let Zira stay!”
-Baridi: “Shut up Sarabi! This is under Ahadi’s rule, be thankful I even took care of you two... *pfft* nuisance cubs”
-Zira: “But Mother, I’m confused. What have I done?”
-Baridi: *says spitefully* “Sarabi, you explain.”
*Sarabi looks at the ground*
-Zira: “Sarabi…?”
-Sarabi: “Mother, don’t make me tell…”
-Baridi: “Go on Sarabi!”

…silence…

-Sarabi: *speaks softly* “When you were born Ahadi and father said you must be exiled just after your first hunt. We’re only half-sisters Zira… your actual father is a rouge lion. The elders think an outsiders’ child shouldn’t have the opportunity to stay in the pride lands… I had nothing to do with this Zira, I love you!”
-Zira: *tears rolling down* “How could you do this to me?! You… you knew all along! I trusted you.”
-Sarabi: “Sister, please…”
-Baridi: “Enough of this pity-party. Leave now Zira, there is nothing left for you here! You must move past the borders of the pride lands immediately.”
-Zira: “Mother, I thought you loved me…”
-Baridi: “Go, Zira. Ahadi will be coming soon.”
*Zira takes a long look at Sarabi, and then runs*
-Sarabi: “Zira!! Please wait, Zira!”

Yes, that means Zira knew Taka/Scar before either of them became a villain. Both Sarabi and Zira have colors resembling their fathers.

First time using PaintTool SAI, any advice is appreciated! It's amazing to think about how I got my tablet exactly a year ago! Also, I didn't start on paper, straight from the tablet! First time drawing Zira and Sarabi.
