Description The true spirit of mother nature is that of a child; she sees the beauty in everything and takes nothing for granted. She is not discouraged by setbacks. She holds our future in her hands; she is it's guardian, it's keeper.

"It is good to realize that if love and peace can prevail on earth, and if we can teach our children to honor nature's gifts, the joys and beauties of the outdoors will be here forever." -Jimmy Carter

awesome.
i love the quote

i've never pictured mother nature so, brown.

i've always imagined her with greenish clothes and leaves woven into her hair

I usually picture Mother Nature green, also. She can be Mother Nature in Autumn

Absolutely perfect, real piece of art, I love it. Passing by techical perfection of the image, I just want to say that the picture holds some great spiritual (mystical?) idea. IMHO, it's the most important thing for any piece of art.
Thanks!

Great job of cutting the stock out, do you mind what technique you use? A lovely piece!

Thank you! I use the polygonal lasso tool on a layer mask. It takes awhile, but is more accurate for me than anything else. After I'm finished, I usually apply the layer mask, select the layer, feather the selection to 1 and apply a new layer mask, just because it helps blend the edges a little better. For this piece I also cut out sections of her dress that were partially transparent, pasted them on a new layer, and adjusted their transparency.

I'm honored that someone of your skill asked me my technique!!!

I usually use the Pen Tool for cutting out but I like the layer mask idea, I'll have to try it, thank you!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

braiiins In reply to Irishchicky [2007-10-11 19:33:58 +0000 UTC]

It depends on what you are using it on. Generally, the lightest you can get away with, so it doesn't look overdone. I usually start around 50% and work from there, increasing or decreasing as needed.
