Description i wrote and illustrated a norse myth storybook called "Hermod's ride to Hel". I mostly took on the project because i love the goddess Hel and there are so many ways she's been depicted that i wanted to add my own take on her, too. I'm only posting 2 of the pictures i did of her, although i have many more.

it's inked and then digitally rendered/textured.

I've read the Younger Prose Edda & the Poetic Edda way too many times for my own good, and I think you've portrayed her true to the myths. Beyond that, I think you also capture the milieu from which those stories arose.

The myths aren't at all like the more Olympian (or worse yet pulp comic) interpretations that seem to dominate popular culture. They're brutal and spare -- which you've captured perfectly.

thank you very much. I did a lot of research into how I should portray Hel true to the original myths. I'm glad you appreciate this aspect my piece.

thanks. Hel was often described as both beauty and ugliness. some stories describe her as being half black, half white... this was my take on her.

I've heard that she was half-white half-blue too, but personally I like your take the best, really.

Yeah, I have Tulk. He's pretty awesome. I just find he goes through the material a little too quickly and I hope and pray for study sheets that never come.

yeah, *grin* i'll probably go back into it and do some colour, but all my work for the class this was for is in black and white... no time for colour right now. i *do* agree with you, tho.
