Sure you can, as long as you crop your portrait tight.

So the real question is: “Why would you do it anyway?”
I think the longer lens are giving a beautiful compression to your subject.
The wall in the background is plain in this picture, but the blurring effect is still apparent on the subject itself, so the furthest eye of Martina is already fading away in a pleasant bokeh.  Also her hair and skin are constantly transitioning from sharp and smoothly blurred, creating a sensual feel. Not a bad result for a small room.
If you are serious about photography, you should make your research more complicated, and go where other people are afraid to venture.
