Seems cool so far
Perhaps since it is an apocalypse you should give him some body hair or stubble, and add scars to show he has been in a lot of fights.
Plus it could add to the 'brave, reckless, badass' character you want to make

I'm going to start him off with a little body hair since the book starts off two weeks in dealing with it. But in chapter four, there's a one year time skip and he has a beard and three scars where one of his eyes were. I'll release the concept for that soon. I did a full outline of the chapters that I will be releasing to give everyone an idea where I want to go with it.
