75 million years ago in what will someday become Canada, the ceratopsian dinosaur Styracosaurus albertensis munches on the fruit of Manchestercarpa vancouverensis, a Cretaceous species of tree from the mahogany family (Meliaceae). Fossilized fruit from this tree have been discovered on Vancouver Island and found to be between 79 and 72 million years old , showing that mahogany trees were growing as far north as Canada during the dinosaur era (nowadays, they are mostly limited to the tropical latitudes).
