Hello Brian, Good work on this. I always admired classical asian ink painting and calligraphy. I have tried it a few times without success. It is difficult to achieve a free flowing look in the shape you want to achieve in one brush stroke. The tail fins and fins on the bottom of the fish really have this feel. Congrats!

thanks! even though my parents are from hong kong, ive never been taught how to paint in that classic style with the ink and the calligraphy brushes. but yeah i think subconciously i was trying to emulate that style somehow. the fins and tail werent just one brush stroke by the way, just some detail added in for that extra meatiness on the fish.

ahhh well.. you went and spoiled my fantasy....
Thinking about it though is making me interested in trying again. Though I think I will have to find an inexpensive thing to paint on. no way on canvas.. well I guess single brushstrokes are difficult on canvas.
