"aw, dude. I'm real sorry. that site is a "chop" site where people find the
best image sources and "chop" them into something else. I am not trying to
profit from it. I probably didn't do much research on the source photo, to
be honest I wanted to do the best "stained glass" representation of Batman
and your image was the one I went with. if you want I can contact Vlad the
administrator of FreakingNews and have him either take the image down or I
could give you source credit in the description. either way, really not
trying to steal your thunder, just thought it was an excellent
representation of the Bat Man. it is considered parody and not illegal but
as an artist I do understand. I probably should have researched the source
and contacted you , I would do that today but this was way back in my
"green" prime. you can use my image any way you would like if that helps,
have at it. just let me know what you would like to do because I understand
that as an artist you should protect your work. I wouldn’t do things that
way now btw. that chop was a long time ago in my realm. I had a look at your
work and I do respect you as an artist.

At least he knows that he was in the wrong. Personally, I'd take it as flattery that he chose your work and be thankful that it was never for profit. It's a cool design and really does work well for the stained glass. In the end, it's totally your call. Sorry it had to happen, though.

Oh & based what everyone else is saying in the comments section, I'm gonna go with pissed. I mean, I've posted other people's stuff before, but I normally at least make a point of saying who it's by & making links to where I got it from. And even if I can't remember or find where I originally got it from, but at least then, I tell people it's not really my work. So I guess my point is, fuck that guy.

What the FUQ, at first glance I was thinking flattery but after reading a few lines on that thing I think the guy should be ashamed. I can see using the design or pose and altering it into his own style or completey twisting the image, but to use the same exact drawing and then just try and paste it some where is pretty disrespectful. To add fuel to the fire this guy even entered into a contest?! BLASPHEMY!!!!(wrong context to use the word but you feel me) ANyways that is a deserved ass whoopin

Great one O Miestro! I'd be upset. Anytime someone uses your work, even for practice, and post it somewhere you should be told beforehand. Anything short of that is stealing. Even if this joker is not making money off of it, who's to say someone else doesn't grab it to sell somehow? There should ALWAYS be a credit there from where the original art came from. No discussion.

I'd be pissed and request it be removed. Why?
Because it was for a contest in which a prize (monetary or otherwise) was involved. In other words, there was a potential for gain made with stolen work.
Same reason you cannot sell your work without the consent of Warner Brothers. They'd issue a cease and desist order and then sue for any monies gained plus penalties.
Point is, even though this is technically fanart, there are still guaranteed protections. Had he simply noted his work was done as a manipulation of your own, it would be different. Since he chose not to cite the original artist at all I hold no sympathy for the douchebag.
