I completely forgot about this. It's a painting I did about four months ago for *RustyRainbow 's birthday. It's Kyo of Dir en grey twisted in my own grungy/warped/ representational style done on black sugar paper with normal kids poster paints ans karisma colouring pencils.I was basically trying to represent actual stage-kyo because I get very sick of looking at these too cute or overly exaggerated pretty drawing of him. Kyo doesnt want to be pretty. He wants to be disgusting. If you've seen the Saku and Clever Sleazoid PVs and still didn't catch on to this, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? *ahem* However Kyo still *is* good-looking so I was trying to get this (as in both sides) in the picture in other words kyo's intendedly disgusting stage performance + his natural looks = what kyo looks like. Or something like that. Please just say you understand what I'm getting at -.-;;
This, as you might have realised from the title is based of Kyo from the 'Vulgar' era, non dir en grey fans that's the image/music/tour associated with the album 'Vulgar' which is around 03/04. The corresponding tour was called Code of Vulgar[ism] which was, in a way referrance for this pic++

ive seen some "omgsocute" fanarts of him and ill i could tthink was "it doesnt even look like him D:" but this with this one [even though its not realistic or anything] i could tell right away it was kyo :3

I love it. I think no matter what people are going to think him cute and put him that way, but i think your right. Im so glad someone drew him in a non-innocent picture. Kyo is sin in a japanese body. I love the picture. great job! :thumbs up:

Wonderful representation! I think Kyo would prefer this to any other.
The way i see it though....
The children's paper is Kyo's childlike nature, the Kyo so catch unguarded off stage. The hair is his natural beauty, his sexyness. The blood is his vulgar, scary, grotesque side and his deep black eyes are the hurt and suffering he's felt. It has hollowed him out.
This is.....such an impactful peice... *gives full props and kuppos*

it seems like it'd be kool to have kind of a glowy-red in the background, or maybe blood-like substances dripping?

yeah, normally I'm all: "BLOODY RED EFFECTS EVERYWHERE! WOO!!" but in this instance I was trying to do a spotlight on kyo, therefore concentrating all attention on kyo, as i said above this pic is based off live performance. He's got blood on him which also is in focus and personally I felt if i put it in the bg it'd take away from Kyo :3

how i initially pictured the effect being-
it would be like the lighting he so often uses whilst on stage (glowy red)
blood stuff was said as an alternative to that *nods*
it just seemed that the overall image (from a balance point) needed something more. (atleast, thats what i say XD hah.)
but, *shrug* its your art. and it still wonderfully captures kyo's spirit ^__^

I love this morbid version of Kyo. I know he doesn't want to be cute, though I still think he is. But he is very sexy when he looks warped, especially in the Obscure pv
