No problem, we were all new once
DA has a currency, 'points'. You can use points to buy Core membership, prints (I think?) and premium content that artists put up for sale, like these horse bases. They can also be converted back to real money and cashed out, if earned from commissions etc.
Points are useful if you don't have real money to buy things; you can collect points from other artists, for example, you may have seen some artists offering 'commissions for points'.
100 points is equal to one US dollar, so these bases are about half a dollar.
So, you'll need to find a few points from somewhere.
- offer some commissions (custom art) or adoptables (creature designs) and see if someone will buy
- put a donation thingy on your profile, someone might feel generous
- llamatrade.deviantart.com/ Β Β keep checking that page, sometimes people give points if you give them a badge, it's free
- and there's another popular place to get free points by doing tasks like watching artists, favourite-ing their art, etc... sorry, I can't remember the name, try Googling it. ^^

So wait if we purchase this its a base colored horse that we can edit to look like our horse in that pose? If so I'm purchasing

Yes, it's a series of outlines with optional shading layers. You fill in the colour and markings underneath, for each horse.
The colours/markings in this example were just for demonstration. You can edit these bases however you like (some artists have added wings, horns, animated bits as well as custom coats).

Would we be able to use as YCH/commissions?

Someone used your work here - callista.su/equine/booru/
It's a terrible place for perverts zoophiles. I would be very angry if my art were used for this.

I bought it but I use medibang and I either need a png file or a psd file. I can't use the zip :c it won't open. can you help me out?
π: 0 β©: 1
BronzeHalo In reply to Miakoda86 [2018-01-22 18:05:27 +0000 UTC]
Sorry, zip folders are just what DA automatically does, both here and in sta.sh... I can't think of any other way to send you a PSD. :/
What's the error when opening it? Do you not have a program like WinZip or such, that can extract files from zips? There are free options out there.

Miakoda86 In reply to BronzeHalo [2018-01-23 13:49:49 +0000 UTC]
I use my school computer for my art. The program I use is Medibang and I can only open psd or png files. the zip won't open at all. If I can't use the program can I have my points back?
π: 0 β©: 1
BronzeHalo In reply to Miakoda86 [2018-01-23 15:45:16 +0000 UTC]
So the problem isn't the PSD (the file itself), it's that you can't open zip folders (that DA wraps files in). Have you looked for a program that can do that? If you are using a zip program, what error message are you seeing?
Really sorry, but if you can't open zips then you'll never be able to use anything purchased on DA. 99.9% of people have no problem with them, and it's not my PSD that's causing a problem... so I'm reluctant to refund, if this can be solved first. ^^

I use psd files from other people on da all the time. I think there is a setting for it. And my school does not allow me to download any other programs. I can't use the file unless it is put up as only psd. Or maybe just a png file. My program doesn't work with zip files

π: 0 β©: 1
BronzeHalo In reply to KiddWulf [2017-01-30 18:28:33 +0000 UTC]
There should have been a prompt on the page, something like "what do you want to do with this file? Open with Photoshop or..."
It might be different for your computer though. Check your Downloads folder, or your internet browser's download history. That's where things usually end up for me.

KiddWulf In reply to BronzeHalo [2017-01-30 18:39:24 +0000 UTC]
I'm not seeing it in my downloads folder. I've downloaded it a few timesΒ to see and its not there.
But it shows up in my documents on my computer, just not in my folder to open it to use it.

BronzeHalo In reply to KiddWulf [2017-01-30 19:13:57 +0000 UTC]
Oh, if it's already in your Documents (for some reason), then can't you open it from there, or launch your art software and select it to open? Like any other image?

KiddWulf In reply to BronzeHalo [2017-01-30 19:35:24 +0000 UTC]
It just says "cannot read this file" It's usually able to open pds files, but I don't know why its not doing it for this one. Β

BronzeHalo In reply to KiddWulf [2017-01-30 20:17:09 +0000 UTC]
Oh... someone said the same thing a few weeks ago, about this particular file "not being read". D:
I have no idea why - hundreds of others have had no problems with it, and I haven't changed it since the first upload. But if the same issue keeps popping up, maybe I'll need to replace or take it down... or have a word with DA perhaps.
For now, try this copy.
I changed a few layers and resaved it. Does it open?

Nevermind, one of my friends was looking for a logo for her training, but when she said brand I thought she meant something you would like put on business cards or print on riding jackets, but she actually meant for freeze branding her horses. Thank you for replying back though!

Like how Clint Anderson has his logo. I would just add tack to one of the horses and maybe change the mane and tail
