OK - how did you get the white that blindingly white??? I'm currently trying to acheive that glowing effect and its not happening for me. Please share your secret!

well.. it's kinda stupid but .. it's like this..
do not ever touch the glowing spots with the end of your pencil.. not ever.. you leave them clear... word out the shades first and then maybe workout (work in to) the glows.. and make sure to to make it a black/white thing.. but look at the picture you are drawing and see the very bright glows and the less bright glows... the most bright you should never touch with you pencil.. and then work on the less bright glow.
I hope you understand it.. haha cause it's quite hard to explane with out showing it

Thanks! No I understand...its that tricky thing of distinguishing between the light bits that you shade ever so lightly and the REALLY light bits which you don't touch at all isn't it? Thanks for the advice! You do the glow-y effect better than anyone i've ever seen

how do you go about your portraits...just curious

well I first start with a few.. proportions.... in th big picture not details..
the important thing is.. that you don't start with one thing.. you'll have to draw an overview of the portret.. .. correct the overview till it totally correct. then wwork it out.. if the underground/overview is correct.. your drawing all worked out will be correct too... and the shadings and all.. well I start with the darkest shadings.. then work it out more and more... and just feel the way somthing goes... the shape of a face in 3D ..that and eye isn't flat it's round... and all that...
