Quick costuming tip: Iron all seams as you put together clothing for a more finished look. Also, play around with lightly steaming the material as you go to tighten up your seams. experiment on a scrap piece of the material first to determine how much shrinkage will occur before steaming the final product.

Good Steampunk designs and costumes can be expensive or it they can be cheap. If you want a great costume and pay nothing for it all you have to do is give yourself a few months of hard work while creating everything yourself using almost exclusively recycle materials. Hard, but it can be done. Quality, instant gratification, and free. Pick any two, because it is very rarely that you will ever get all three.
