I could have sworn I assigned Space to shoot also for this game....or maybe it was space, but I made it to click instead. Oh well, Just one more thing to add to the list of things to fix for this game!

No I tried that out and it doesn't seem to work, :I however the mouse controls are excellent, very fluid and smooth. ^^

Well done for a flash class project. Keep at it and improve yourself.
It seems to have a high difficulty curve, but that's not a big issue really. May consider changing the player ship a bit ti avoid the asteroids look alike game (when you find time for it), 'cause I think there can be more to this game.

Right now, the number of enemies to kill increments by one every level and the become faster every time. I'm hoping to add features such as weaker enemies or more types of enemies as well as being able to upgrade the ship after each level.

I actually based the controls off one of my favorite Flash games of all time Viricide. [link] I found these controls to be the most accurate for any space shooter I've played, hence why I used this method. Maybe if I were to remake this game I could add the option to change the controls (Like Up-Thrust, R/L-Turn, Space-Shoot) for those who prefer the other method.
I do plan to improve the graphics a bit, but my expertise is on the programming side of Flash and not the graphics. I can give a stylized look a try and see how that tuns out. (These graphics were made in 2010 while I was still learning Flash, but I think I've improved since then).

Quite fun, but it feels as if it lags a bit when more enemies come on screen.
Hehe, repair box powerup.

I'm glad you noticed the repair box right away, most people ask me why I put a mailbox in there. :\

Maybe its just me, but the controls feel a little...awkward.

Most likely because I haven't added any inertia physics yet. Stay tuned, that's being added in my Portfolio II class in a few weeks!

Thanks for the feedback!
I had asteroids in mind while making this game which is why it looks very similar. I guess I should probably redesign the player ship to look more like the style of the enemy ships (or redesign the enemy ships to match the style of the player ship).
There isn't any inertia in this game as I was still learning programming while making this. Now that I've learned better techniques to make the player move around, inertia is definitely going to be added!
And, of course, I'm definitely changing the background. I was originally going to make the stars smaller and not move so much (and remove the larger "snow" stars) but I like your idea of adding in planets, too!
Again, thanks for the feedback! This will really help me out for my portfolio!

any chance of powerups?

I'll be enhancing this game in the near future once I take my Portfolio II class in college. Some of the additions I'll be adding are powerups, more enemies, and upgrades as well as make the background less distracting (it never snows in space apparently) and other various improvements.
And I'm only curious, how did you find this game?

Ah, that would make sense since I don't remember actually posting this anywhere else online yet. Thanks for checking it out!
