Description This is Kate Bishop, Marvel Comics' wonderful new female Hawkeye from the series Young Avengers. I've been a big fan of the series ever since it started back in 2005, and Kate was always my favourite character. She's long been on the list of characters I'd like to make fan art of, and finding some excellent archery stock photos here on dA presented a golden opportunity.

Rooftop modelled in 3D in Bryce using a free water tower model and textures from cgtextures.com
The sky, cityscape, moon and reflections use stock photos from sxc.hu

Thanks! It did involve a bit of clean-up, but really, the stock only helped things. I'm not sure i could've come up with such a dynamic pose myself.

Thank you, Mr. Hartnell. It's not impossible; I like Cassie too and I can think of lots of ways to make a pic of her visualy interesting. But I tend to work pretty slow though, often a month or more per image, and I jump around a lot of fandoms (so many characters to fan art, so little time) so it may not happen for a while. Already have several other (non-YA) plans in progress.

Thanks. I'll take a look, certainly. I can't promise anything -- I mostly only use stock for faces, since I like the greater control 3D offers for bodies. But we shall see... something may inspire me.

Thanks! Kate is awesome -- I love the idea of a normal human who should by rights be a spoiled rich kid turning herself into a kickass superhero just by sheer force of will. She's like Green Arrow without the annoying sexist undertones.

Seriously! It's just really awesome. haha I always liked how green arrow and Black Canary were together. But he did have that undertone at times. It wasn't easy for him when it came to trusting people. lol

I love Black Canary in BoP, but never really warmed up to Ollie on any of the times I tried to read him. But it's cool that you like them!

Arrows rule. I watched the first season of YJ, though I didn't really get into it too much. I do keep meaning to check out more, but there just aren't hours in the day...

awesome work. You've blended teh character and background pretty seamlessly. Did the floor grid help you out? (just curious)

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I didn't really need to use the floor grid since the bg was 3D... I just temporarily added a 3D model in an approximation of your pose to work out the relative sizes and camera angle properly. The grid would've been useful if I'd decided to do it entirely in Photoshop... but I'm too lazy. And thanks for the great stock! I don't do straight-up photomanipulations much since I like to have full control over the characters, but I couldn't resist that awesomely evocative photo.
