Description Here's a female Eastern cicada killer carrying a paralyzed swamp cicada to her underground burrow in the longleaf savannas of Louisiana. They are large parasitic wasps native to the Southern and Northeastern United States living in forests and wetlands. They are recognized by their large size growing 2 inches with the females making them the largest wasps in the United States; orange, red, black, and yellow exoskeletons; territorial males that divebomb competition around the burrows; and are known to prey on different species of cicadas like swamp and periodical cicadas by paralyzing them with their stingers and laying eggs inside of them to their burrows. They are normally omnivores feeding on nectar and sap but the larvae feed on cicadas. They are not dangerous to humans despite their large size and are normally harmless unless they are threatened. What do you think of it so far?

Yeah, I see these wasps in my yard feeding on swamp cicadas. They're really nice to see in the summer.

Thank you, Fire-jewel๐Ÿ˜Š. These wasps are large but are not dangerous to humans. That's why I chose the title to have gentle on it.
