Wow, this is a really interesting piece! I like how it has this Japanese, almost Okami-esque style to it. It's a standout that I do quite like, although you almost made it look a little cute (unless that's your point). Also, does anyone think this guy may be a fire type?
Only criticism is that you forgot the black diamond-esque hands that it has, which makes it look like any bird or dragon creature.
