A fascinating photo.
The exceedingly strong contrast between the umbrella chosen by the woman and the surrounding scenery feels almost surreal. Still, nothing more appropriate to breathe life into an otherwise bleak environment. I like the low perspective of the shot as well, it accentuates the reflections below.

Yeah, the atmosphere was great. Overcast but not too gloomy. That's perfect for reflections. Also the surface here was quite dark, which helps.
