HAPPY HALLOWEEN GUYS! hope i'm not too late ":> unfortunately, i don't celebrate halloween, but i decided to draw something special this year. maybe it's not too halloween-y, but i still tried x)

these cute cats are bakeneko and maneki-neko and they are from japanese mythology. bakeneko is a type of japanese yokai, kind of like a kitsune. to become a bakeneko, a cat has to reach a certain age, size or have a really long tai. if it does have a long tail, the tail splits in two and the cat becomes a nekomata ("double cat").

you might know the second one pretty well. the maneki-neko (literally "beckoning cat") is a japanese talisman which is believed to bring good luck to the owner. maneki-neko can be found with either the right or left paw raised (and sometimes both). a statue with the left paw raised is to get more customers, while the right paw raised is to get more money.
