Description One of the characters in the movies who were not in the least like I imagined them from the books was Lavender. I don't think she's that clingy maniac she was in the movies. I always liked Lavender in the books - sure, "Won-Won" was a good laugh and I don't doubt she was a highly annoying girlfriend, but I generally pictured her to be a pretty, good-hearted girl with a soft spot for divination.

I also always imagined her to be black, and I heard that she was even played by a black actress in the first movies, but got switched for that white craze-ass in the sixth movie and I think that is not only weird, but kind of a bad move. So to me, she'll always be that cute black girl who joined Dumbledore's army and cried bitter tears for her dead baby rabbit, and I'll continue to like her as the person she is in the books.

I like the hair, but this was always how I imagined Parvati. Lavender always was a white girl with a heart-schaped/oval face and long wavy dark brown hair.

I completely agree. I hate when movies change too much, or give people the wrong impression of a character who was very different in the books.

This is so cute! I love her hair style here. And gosh, I didn't know that they changed Lavender Brown's actress from a black actress to a white one. That's pretty sad.

You're right, they did switch, but there's a reason for it. In the sixth book we actually get a note on how Lavender looks, and her hands were impossible to differ from Ron's, thus making thier earlier choice of actor "wrong"...

Hmmmm... where does this info come from? Because to be honest, it doesn't sound any convincing to me. That scene didn't even appear in the movie, and they never gave any attention to rancom sentences in the books anywhere else. Unfortunately I couldn't find an explanation on Google either. Apparently noone cared to explain the change of actress.

Oh, she is so cute! Yes, too many people associate Lavender Brown with the crazy way she was portrayed in the movie. Blame Rupert Grint. From what I read, he was the one who had a say in selecting the actress with the director, since he was the one who would get to kiss her. So that girl was picked mainly because she was the one whom he wanted to snog.

haha, I didn't know that! well the actress herself was pretty, but I just don't understand why there was the need to choose a new one to begin with. they already had a lavender. they just took the job from her and gave it to someone else, and the fact that the girl from the beginning was black and got exchanged for a white one when her part got bigger just feels so wrong. I'm not calling them racist, but it has a bit of that vibe to it.
