Ok, first off, this is not entirely mine. the line art is by and can be found here: [link] the only things i did was to use photoshop to turn the line art black instead of blue, and to clean up the pen a bit so i could really work on the shadowing... and of course, to color it with colored pencil.

it's been quite a while since i worked in colored pencil, and i just wanted to practice a bit... see just how rusty i really was... turns out i wasn't very rusty at all. ^.^

i must say that i did not use a single piece of reference when coloring this. my desktop picture was Reno for quite a while, and the colors were just sort of easy.

About the eyes: for a while, it's been unclear what color Reno's eyes actually are... i understand that in the brightened, over-saturated colors in the new high-def Advent Children Complete show his eyes being very blue i was working my way through reading a story by kremesch called 'Dance of the Macabre', and it's sequel, 'Gemini Project' on fanfiction.net (chapter 1 here: [link] if you would like to read it... caution, it's a RenoxRufus dark romance) when i colored this... and i was struck by the way kremesch described his eyes... and actually used the fact that no one could pin down his exact eye color (before ACC) and played around with it... it was truly interesting to read. so i based the color i used for his eyes in this on that story. those who read that story (or at least the first part, DotM) may recognize a bit of detail work i added to his earring.

About the hair: i didn't take out all the lines that Washu-M but in the hair, but i did take out most of them... however, i used what was there as a guide, and i think that the unique look i got with the very black lines running through mixed with the dark reds, and the lighter highlights, and shines look... well... just... wow.... is really all i can say about it. to be honest, i've never had a piece come out so cool before. i'm very happy! ^.^
